I’m a huge WWII/history buff and I always dreamed of collecting WWII memorabilia Also I’ve been invited to go hunting a few times but never had a rifle…but now I do.

My family thinks I’m a communist.
Which is super far from the truth.
So when I started really getting enthusiastic about guns I read as much as I could, and I still do. I fell in love with Russian firearms. After I bought my mosin nagant I wanted to learn more about the country where my gun came from. I grew up in a small hillbilly town that had more churches than people. The only lessons my school gave about Russia was that they were bad. That’s it. That is the full extent of my knowledge on Russia. I’m a pretty smart person and I’ve always felt stupid for knowing nothing about it. It wasn’t my fault, it was just my environment.
So I bought a book that talks about the history of Russia. My mom looked worried when I showed her and my Dad went as far as to say to not let my grandma know my gun was from Russia because it would freak her out. I keep trying to explain to everyone that I’m a libertarian and that I simply just am interested in the history of the country and I enjoy their firearms. No matter how I say it they think I’m some sort of weird communist. I can’t blame them, they don’t understand that people could be interested in things like that, I get it.
I guess I just thought I’d finally have something in common with my family since they all like guns and stuff, but even in a similar interest I’m still on the outside of things.

Almost everyone in my family is anti-gun and think I am some sort of crazed militant gun nut(my mom thinks I am responsible but still thinks “no one should be able to own an AK-47”)

My first rifle!
I love it. It has all matching numbers and it came from Izhevsk. I still need to buy a sling, and get all the cosmoline off the stock, but I got most of it off that was gunked up. I gave it a good cleaning and will be taking it to the range pretty soon.
I’ve had a shit eating grin on my face all day.
