I love those little handy dandy barrel cover things they have.
The Walther Volkspistole was a last ditch weapon made by Walther towards the end of the Third Reich.
“The Walther company first designed a model using pressed parts technology (as opposed to castings) that appeared to be very similar to the Colt 1911A. Both the first and second attempts were dismissed by the military wepaons bureau. But the third version found favor with party leadership and the weapons bureau could no longer intervene. Production began on Febuary 12, 1945 and by March 30 the first weapons were to be delivered. But because of the rapidly deteriorating situation, (Zella-Mellis, the company headquarters, was occupied by units of the 90th US Division on April 7th), only a few of these arms would leave the factory. With this pistol, came very primitive construction; the situation forced the use of various available parts and examples are unique in their construction.”
Spent 8x56mmR casing, note the Waffen mark on the bottom(eagle holding a swastika) and the date(1938) I actually had the privilege of discharging this cartridge. Kinda need to shoot something that old.

Normally im all for political and/or provocative humor, but there are certain lines you dont cross, no matter how well-made the meme/gif is.
Tumblr: the land of “social justice” blogs, white knight wannabes, and no fun allowed. (And it this case poor punctuation.)

The Gewehr 41 is a very interesting automatic rifle. it was designed in Germany, and used during World War Two. It was made by both Walther and Mauser(the variants can be seen above) What makes this firearm so unique is that it was made under the specification that it could not have any porting in the barrel. This presents a huge problem because most automatic rifles use a gas system that has a port in the top of the barrel, with either a piston or by direct impingement the bolt is pushed back to load the next round. As a way around this, the G41 instead uses something called the Bang system(named after Søren H. Bang) The way this system functions is by having a cone over the end of the barrel(which can be see in in the lower picture as #4) This cone creates a chamber that holds presure when the gun is fired, that pressure is used to push back a cylindrical piece of metal(part #6) which in turn pushes back a long piece of metal(not pictured) that moves over the barrel all the way back to the bolt and resets it. It’s an interesting system but it is prone to fouling and jamming up from being too dirty.
“The belt buckle pistol was an experimental German World War II firearm consisting of two 7.65 mm barrels and lockwork concealed within a Nazi Party belt buckle. The barrels were 2” long and the wearer needed to get very close to their victim. A lever was pressed which allowed the spring-loaded buckle to pivot downwards, exposing the barrel.”
